How the Life Path number is calculated
Take each part of your birth date on its own and add its digits until one digit is left. Keep 11, 22 and 33 as they are; those are master numbers. Then add the three results and reduce once more.
Example: 14 July 1990
- Month: 7
- Day: 14 → 1 + 4 = 5
- Year: 1990 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1
- Total: 7 + 5 + 1 = 13 → 1 + 3 = Life Path 4

Questions people ask
How do you calculate your Life Path number?
Reduce the month, the day and the year of your birth date to single digits on their own, add the three together, and reduce again. For 14 July 1990: month 7, day 1+4 = 5, year 1+9+9+0 = 19, 1+9 = 10, 1+0 = 1. Then 7+5+1 = 13, and 1+3 = 4. Life Path 4.
What are master numbers?
11, 22 and 33 are called master numbers and are not reduced further, either inside a part of the date or in the final sum. A Life Path 11 is read as its own number rather than as a 2.
Why do other calculators give me a different number?
Some add every digit of the date in one go instead of reducing month, day and year first. Most of the time you get the same number either way; the difference shows up around master numbers. This calculator reduces each part first, which is the most common method.
Which name should I use?
The full name on your birth certificate, middle names included, even if you go by something else now. Your Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers come from it. Without a name you still get your Life Path.
Is numerology scientific?
No. Numerology is a symbolic tradition, and nothing here predicts events. People use it as a set of prompts for thinking about their strengths and habits, which is how this calculator presents it.
